Do you yearn for a brighter, whiter smile? Perhaps you are tired of living with teeth that have jagged edges, poor positioning, and noticeable wear. The objectives of cosmetic treatments are to improve the appearance of a person’s teeth and his or her smile. Dr. Golab and our team are committed to helping our guests enjoy beautiful, red carpet-worthy smiles. Some of our most popular treatments include professional teeth whitening, dental bonding, and porcelain veneers.

Nothing – especially something store bought – can compare to the effectiveness of a professional teeth whitening treatment. Dr. Golab offers in-office whitening treatments and take-home kits to meet our patients’ diverse needs.

In-office teeth whitening provides immediate results. In one, approximately 60-minute session, an in-office treatment can lighten teeth about 8 to 10 shades. For those who prefer to whiten their teeth outside of the dental chair, we offer take-home kits – a convenient, smile-enhancing option. Take-home kits are beneficial for touch-ups after an in-office treatment, too.

Our practice is happy to offer effective teeth whitening options that are safe for teeth.

Unlike teeth whitening, dental bonding makes a permanent change to tooth structure to conceal imperfections like gaps and chips. Bonding simply means that tooth structure is altered by adhering a restorative material to teeth. In the case of cosmetic dental bonding, patients’ dental flaws are concealed with composite resin – a tooth-colored, biocompatible compound used to discreetly repair broken and diseased teeth. Dental bonding can help produce the appearance of a straight, white, and proportionate smile.

Porcelain veneers are a solution for those with various kinds of dental imperfections. Like dental bonding, veneers act as a cosmetic enhancement but they last longer and are more resistant to staining and breaking. A veneer is a custom made, tooth-shaped enhancement that is bonded to the front sides of teeth. Since veneers are razor thin and made of high-quality porcelain, they can transform the most flawed smiles into beautiful ones where noticeable imperfections are a problem of the past. Every veneer is made to very exact measurements so that they perfectly complement a person’s dental and facial anatomy.

Common Cosmetic Dentistry Questions

What is cosmetic dentistry?

Cosmetic dentistry encompasses a series of procedures that are used to enhance a person’s appearance by improving the appearance of teeth. Common cosmetic dental procedures include professional teeth whitening, cosmetic restorations like porcelain dental crowns, and enhancements such as porcelain veneers. Sometimes a person can achieve the results he or she desires with just one treatment while another person with smile flaws of varying natures might need a combination of procedures to achieve a total smile makeover.

When it comes to choosing a cosmetic procedure(s), your consultation with our dentist is integral to determining the treatment options right for you. During your consultation, we will perform a physical examination, take diagnostic and photographic images (if necessary), discuss your concerns and treatment goals, and make recommendations tailored to your unique wishes.

What is a dental bonding?

A dental bonding is a minimally invasive, cosmetic dentistry treatment. Bonding essentially means that a compound is cemented to a tooth. In the case of cosmetic treatments, dental bonding involves applying composite resin over imperfections on teeth like chips, cracks, and stains. Composite resin is a compound made of glass and plastic. It is white and tintable so that it can blend in seamlessly with biological tooth structure. Dental bonding is a cost-effective solution to concealing smile imperfections but it is not as durable as other cosmetic enhancements like porcelain veneers.

What is a veneer?

A veneer is a razor-thin enhancement made from porcelain. Veneers are placed over teeth to produce a perfect-looking, healthy smile. Handcrafted into tooth-shaped pieces of porcelain, veneers are perfect for producing a smile that appears vibrant and straight. In fact, some people refer to receiving porcelain veneers as “instant orthodontics” because after veneers are bonded, a person can have a smile where his or her teeth appear perfectly straight and proportionate. Normally, people receive veneers on their most visible teeth.

How much does a smile makeover cost?

The cost of a smile makeover can vary. This is because different cosmetic treatments offer different types of benefits. Moreover, a person’s treatment is tailored to their unique needs. For example, a person’s smile could be improved with a professional whitening treatment and the placement of a dental crown whereas a person with more pronounced concerns might benefit from receiving a combination of dental crowns, bonding treatments, and porcelain veneers.

Since every person’s situation is unique, it is difficult to determine the cost of treatment. If you are curious about improving your smile and the costs associated with cosmetic dentistry, call us to reserve a consultation with our dentist. After your appointment, our team will provide treatment recommendations and cost estimates.
